Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team fell victim to a late goal that held up in their 2-1 season-opening loss to Wisconsin Lutheran College at the Strong Complex Soccer Field Thursday.
Joe Froelich scored the first goal of the season, off an assist from Isaiah Turner-Wyatt, to put the Buccaneers on top 12:37 into the game. That score stood until the Warriors converted a penalty kick at 62:22.
The game-winner came with just 6:32 remaining in regulation, and Beloit couldn't get the equalizer in the time left.
Jere Bauer made three saves in goal, all in the second half. WLC held the shot advantage 13-11 while the Bucs had seven corner kicks to the Warriors' three.
Beloit is back in action on Sunday, again on the home turf, when they host Bethany Lutheran College at 3:30 p.m.
