Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team did extra work to defeat Illinois College 1-0 in two overtimes before falling to Midwest Conference co-leader Knox College 3-0 on Sunday on Senior Weekend for the Buccaneers.
In Sunday's match the Prairie Fire broke a scoreless tie with just over a minute left in the first half to lead 1-0. They made it 2-0 three minutes into the second half and then added some insurance with seven minutes left for the win.
KC held a 21-4 advantage in shots and had seven corner kicks to the Bucs' four. Jere Bauer made seven saves in net, several from point-blank range.
Seniors Isaiah Turner-Wyatt, Joe Brambil, Martin Garrett-Currie, Julian Baker and Thorin Blitz were honored before the player introductions for their final home game.
On Saturday, Jose Gutierrez set off a big celebration with the only goal of the game at the 101:45 mark during the second and final 10-minute overtime period. Bauer made 11 saves for his third shutout of the season.
The Blueboys held the advantage in both shots (18-13) and corners (6-4) for the game.
The Buccaneers have three games left in the regular season, all on the road, starting Saturday at Cornell College at 2:30 p.m.
