Madison, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team came up just short in their comeback at Edgewood College Tuesday night, falling 2-1 in the season opener.
The Eagles broke a scoreless tie at 34:48 to lead 1-0 at the break. They tacked on a second goal at 69:46 for a 2-0 cushion.
Beloit started their comeback with 3:30 remaining in regulation when Daniel Stockton scored unassisted on a free kick. But that was the last shot either team would get off as EC held on.
Jere Bauer made six saves in net in just under 60 minutes of action while Asa Hatten had one save in 30 minutes. Edgewood held the shots advantage 17-10 and had eight corners to the Bucs' three.
Beloit returns home for their next match, the home-opener against Maranatha Baptist Bible College at the Strong Complex Soccer Field Friday. Action begins at 4:30 p.m.
