The Beloit College men’s lacrosse team fell to top-seeded Aurora University 20-2 in a Midwest Lacrosse Conference semifinal hosted by the Spartans Wednesday afternoon.
The game was hampered by storms rolling through the area. The teams were forced to leave the field nearing the end of warm ups due to lightning in the area causing the start of the game to be delayed 15 minutes. Then with just 13:28 left in the contest, the weather caused the end of the game early but with over three quarters of play in the books, Aurora earns the win and advances to the MLC championship.
The Buccaneers scored in each quarter of the first half but were unable to gain any offensive momentum against the top team in the league. Senior’s Matt Lee and Nick Meisberger tallied the Bucs’ two goals in the game. Net-minder John Murphy registered 13 saves in the contest.
Many of the 13 seniors on the Beloit squad this season made their mark in program history including Meisberger who now holds the program record for games played in a career, Jake Walllace holds the top spots in turnovers caused and groundballs for both season and career tallies and Murphy overtook the top spot in career saves.
The Bucs wrap up the 2018 season with an 8-8 record including 6-3 mark in league play.
