The Beloit College men’s lacrosse team topped Marian University 17-7 in their final game at Strong Stadium this season Wednesday night.
With few games left in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference, the Bucs are currently in fourth and would make the MLC tournament if remaining in that spot after their final regular season game.
The Buccaneers struck first with Matt Lee finding the back of the net just 32 seconds into the game. Michael Boyland scored the first of his six goals at the 9:36 mark in the first quarter. Boyland struck again, this time off a helper from Mark Gannon, just two minutes later making it 3-0 Bucs.
Marian got on the board with 6:36 left in the quarter. Kevin Joswiak extended the lead back to three putting the ball passed the keeper with 2:44 left in the first. Gannon tallied the assist on the goal.
The Michaels teamed up for the first goal of the second quarter with Spencer finding Boyland for the score and a 5-1 Beloit advantage. The two flipped roles for another goal at the 6:32 mark and Gannon needed just 50 seconds to push the lead to six.
Gabe Pearlman got in on the action at 4:56 followed by Boyland on a man-down goal at 1:33 to make it 9-1. Marian tallied the final goal of the half with just over a minute remaining but the Bucs had all they needed for the win.
The Bucs will head to league-leading Aurora for the final regular season game of the year Saturday. Start time is slated for 7 p.m.
