Bucs Fall to Aurora in Regular Season Finale, Brace for Rematch in MLC Semifinals

April 30, 2017

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team played through a driving rain and cold in their home and regular season finale Saturday night, dropping a 14-5 decision to Aurora University.

But the Buccaneers won't have to wait long to reverse the result, heading for Aurora on Wednesday for the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament semifinals.  A game time has not yet been announced.

Saturday night the Spartans scored first before Tobin Greenwald tied it up less than a minute later.  But Aurora went on an 8-1 run that bridged the second quarter and into the third quarter to take control of the match.  Zach Carner's (Nick Meisberger) goal early in the second period was the lone Beloit goal in the run, which ended 47 seconds into the third quarter with AU ahead 10-2.

Mark Gannon (Mike Spencer) stopped the run midway thru the third; Jake Wallace tallied nine seconds into the fourth quarter; and then Wallace closed out the scoring with 8:17 remaining.

John Murphy made 14 saves in goal and shared the team lead with Luke Thomson with six ground balls.  Andreas Piepenberg added five ground balls.  Wallace and Chris Anderson both had two caused turnovers.
