River Forest, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team remained undefeated in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play with a 19-3 win at Concordia University Chicago Sunday as they head into the final week of the regular season.
The Buccaneers got off to a strong start with a 7-0 run in the first period. Goals came from Mark Gannon, Tobin Greenwald, Rikley Buckingham, Nick Meisberger, Michael Boyland, Andreas Piepenberg (Andrei Prikhodko), and Ezra Rogers (Gannon). The Cougars got on the board just under two minutes into the second quarter before Beloit ran off the next five goals heading into halftime, making it 12-1 at the break. Second period goals came from Boyland (Kevin Joswiak), Piepenberg, Joswiak (Meisberger), Prikhodko (Casey Bulmer), and Piepenberg.
Beloit kept the push going into the third quarter, scoring five of the six goals in the period. Prikhodko, Joswiak, Piepenberg (Boyland), Gannon (Joswiak) and Dylan Levine got the Buccaneer goals, with CUC scoring just before Levine's. The Bucs added two final tallies in the fourth quarter by Boyland twice (second Luke Thomsen) before the Cougars closed out the scoring with under two minutes left.
Tommy Otis made one save in the first 45 minutes of play for the win before Charles Valuck finished up the final 15 minutes. Nikolai de St. Andrieu had a team-high five ground balls while Zach Carner, Thomsen and Prikhodko had four each. Greenwald, Joswiak and Prikhodko all had two caused turnovers. Chris Vice won 12 of 15 faceoffs.
Beloit steps away from MLC play on Wednesday when they host Illinois Wesleyan University in a 4:30 p.m. faceoff at Strong Stadium.
