Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team didn't let a raw weather night slow them down on Wednesday as they stormed past North Central University of Minnesota 15-2.
The game was a make-up of a postponement originally scheduled for February 28.
The Bucs scored three times within the first five minutes - by Luke Bankord, Rikley Buckingham, and Avery Walter-Bailey (Matt Kelly) - and never looked back. Kelly (Buckingham) and Michael Boyland made it 5-0 with just under seven minutes left in the opening period. Scores by Mike Spencer (Boyland), Dylan Levine and Aric Rasmussen (Andreas Piepenberg) in the last two-plus minutes pushed the score to 8-0 before the Rams got on the board four seconds before the end of the opening quarter to make it an 8-1 game. Piepenberg (Chris Krueger), Kevin Joswiak (Piepenberg) and Rasmussen (Krueger) goals made it 11-1 midway thru the second quarter. NCU tallied six seconds before halftime to make it an 11-2 game at the break.
Beloit closed out the scoring with two goals in both the third and fourth periods while shutting out North Central over the final 30 minutes. Piepenberg and Zach Carner (Kelly) scored the third quarter goals while Joswiak (Piepenberg) and Krueger scored in the fourth for the final score.
Tommy Otis made two saves in the opening half to earn the win while John Murphy finished up in the final 30 minutes.
