Waukesha, WI -- Chris Anderson led a group of five Beloit College Men's Lacrosse players who received recognition on the 2016 All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference team, released today by the Conference office.
Anderson, a sophomore defender from Amherst, Massachusetts, earned First Team honors. Liam O'Connor, a senior attacker from Portsmouth, Rhode Island (Abbey), and Mike Boyland, a freshman midfielder from Madison, Wisconsin (LaFollette) both earned Second Team spots. Luke Bankord, a junior midfielder from Belvidere, Illinois (North), and Jake Wallace, a sophomore defender from Minneapolis, Minnesota (Jefferson) both earned Honorable Mention.
Bankord was also a member of the All-Sportsmanship team.
Anderson, the MLC Defensive Player of the Week on April 11, finished with 60 ground balls and 34 caused turnovers, both second on the team. He finished with two goals and an assist.
O'Connor, the MLC Offensive Player of the Week on May 2, was second on the team in scoring with 23 goals and 15 assists for 38 points. He also had 21 ground balls and three caused turnovers. One of the top scorers in the four-year history of the program at Beloit, he is the all-time leader in assists with 82 and ranks second in both goals (106) and points (158).
Boyland led the team in scoring in his first season, finishing with a team-high 24 goals with 15 assists for 39 points. He also had 24 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Bankord finished with 12 goals and two assists for 14 points while picking up 22 ground balls and causing four turnovers.
Wallace set a season record with 39 caused turnovers and had the fourth-most ground balls in a season with 65. He finished with two goals and four assists for six points.
The Buccaneers finished 5-10 overall and 3-3 in Conference play, earning a second straight trip to the MLC Tournament.
