Aurora, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team saw their 2016 season come to an end Wednesday in a 17-5 loss at Aurora University in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament Semifinals.
Aurora, the #1 seed in the Tourney and the three-time defending Tournament Champions, Jumped on top in the opening quarter and never looked back.
The Spartans scored the first five goals of the game before Michael Boyland (Liam O'Connor) stopped the run with 5:32 left in the first period. AU scored three straight to open the second quarter and make it an 8-1 game. O'Connor (Nick Meisberger) scored five minutes before halftime to make it an 8-2 game at the break.
The third quarter was much like the first, with Aurora out-scoring the Bucs 5-1. The Spartans scored the first three of the second half before Boyland tallied at the 8:13 mark. AU then scored twice in the final 42 seconds of the period to make it 13-3 heading to the fourth. Aurora scored four straight to open the final period before Chris Anderson and Mike Spencer got goals for Beloit in the final 2:56 to close out the scoring.
Trevor Kenahan made 10 saves in 50-plus minutes of action. Jace Hodder had four saves in relief. Kenahan also grabbed a team-high five ground balls Jake Wallace had three caused turnovers and Casey Bulmer five faceoff wins.
Seniors Kenahan, Hodder, O'Connor, Nick Yielding, Tyler Jackson and Aidan Whinnery played their final game for the Bucs. The six were part of the program's first recruiting class.
