April 9, 2016

Milwaukee, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team posted their third straight win, their second straight in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play, with a tight 12-11 win at Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday Afternoon.

The Raiders had a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, with Michael Boyland's goal at the 4:13 mark the only Beloit score.  The Bucs posted a 4-3 advantage in the second quarter to pull within one.  Jesse Brown (Ed Smith) and Liam O'Connor scored back-to-back to open the second and tie it up.  MSOE re-took the lead with consecutive goals at 7:43 and 6:38 before Luke Bankord and Mike Spencer tied it up again.  The Raiders grabbed a 6-5 lead heading to halftime with a goal at 5:04.

O'Connor's second goal of the game landed in between two MSOE scores in the third quarter before Beloit went on a four-goal run that reached into the fourth period to take the lead for good.  Nick Meisberger (Boyland), O'Connor (Boyland) and Chris Krueger gave the Buccaneers a 9-8 lead in the last seconds of the third and Spencer made it a two-goal advantage four-plus minutes into the fourth.  The Raiders pulled back to within one goal one minute after Spencer's score but consecutive goals by O'Connor made it 12-9 with 6:10 remaining.  MSOE scored at 4:52 and again with 41 seconds left to pull within one but Beloit withstood an extra-man opportunity by the Raiders in the final 20 seconds for the win.

Trevor Kenahan made 15 saves in goal, including turning away the potential game-tying goal with eight seconds left.  In addition to O'Connor's five goals, Spencer finished with two and Boyland with two assists to go with a goal.  Chris Anderson had nine ground balls and Jake Wallace six while Anderson posted six caused turnovers and Wallace four.

Beloit has a week before traveling to league co-leader Aurora University next Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. game.
