Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team made sure their final home game of the 2016 season was a happy one with a 29-4 Midwest Lacrosse Conference win over Concordia University Chicago Wednesday night at Strong Stadium.
The Buccaneers opened with six goals in the first period, 13 in the second and eight in the third before closing the game with two in the final quarter.
Zach Carner scored twice in the first while Michael Boyland, Chris Anderson, Nick Meisberger and Ed Smith also tallied. The game-opening run reached 17 unanswered goals in the second as Matt Kelly and Jack Warner both scored twice with Kevin Joswiak, Casey Bulmer, Boyland, Alex Cordova, Mike Spencer and Tanner James also getting in on the fun. The Cougars broke the run at the 3:12 mark before Jesse Brown and James made it a 19-1 game at the break.
Bulmer, Cordova and Luke Thomson increased the lead to 22-1 in the first five-plus minutes of the third period before CUC scored their second goal. Three goals by James and solo markers by Meisberger and Boyland preceded a Concordia score with 27 seconds left to make it 27-3 heading to the final quarter. Bulmer and Dylan Levine closed Beloit's scoring in the fourth period, sandwiched around the Cougars' final goal.
Trevor Kenahan, John Murphy and Jace Hodder combined for eight saves in goal. Jack Walter had a team-high eight ground balls and 10 face-off wins while Nik de St. Andrieu had seven ground balls. Tyler Jackson and Gabe Pearlman each had three caused turnovers.
The 29 goals were the second-most in Beloit history while the 39 points in the game (29 goals, 10 assists) tied for the second-most.
The Bucs head to the road on Saturday, playing Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee at 1:00 p.m.
