March 5, 2016

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit Men's Lacrosse team knows how to open a home season.  The Buccaneers gave head coach Rashad Devoe his first career victory with a big 18-0 shutout win over the University of Dubuque Saturday at Strong Stadium.

The Buccaneers got five goals in the first period, two from Liam O'Connor, and then tacked on six in the second quarter, two from Michael Boyland, to lead 11-0 at the half

The third quarter was the quiet one on the day with just three scores - by O'Connor, Boyland and Ed Smith - before a four-goal fourth period closed out the win.

Boyland finished with four goals and an assist while O'Connor had three goals and four assists.  Smith added two goals, as did Mark Gannon.

The shutout went to Trevor Kenahan, who made four saves in the first half; Jace Hodder, who had three stops in the third period; and Tommy Otis, who closed out the game with three saves in the fourth quarter.

The Bucs now head out on their Spring Trip, playing at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday and at Goucher College in Baltimore on Thursday before taking on Ohio Northern University on the way back next Saturday.
