Six Bucs Earn Recognition on All-MLC Team

Waukesha, WI -- Six Beloit College Men's Lacrosse players earned recognition as the Midwest Lacrosse Conference announced its 2015 All-MLC Team on Monday.

Aidan Whinnery (Jr, Middleton, Wis.), Jake Wallace (Fr, Minneapolis, Minn.) and John Murphy (Fr, Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) earned First Team honors while Liam O'Connor (Jr, Portsmouth, R.I./Abbey) was Second Team and Grant Oie (Fr, Edina, Minn./The Blake School) was Honorable Mention.  Zach Carner (So, Castle Rock, Colo./Castle View) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Whinnery, an attacker, was third in the league in goals with 38 and seventh in points with 52.  He led the Buccaneers in both categories and was third on the team in assists with 14.  He also had 19 ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Wallace, a defenseman, finished fifth in the MLC in caused turnovers with 24 and seventh with 78 ground balls.  He also had three assists on the season.

Murphy, a goalkeeper, led the MLC, and ranks 38th in NCAA Division III, in save percentage at .575.  He was second in the league in fewest goals allowed at 91 and fifth in both saves with 123 and goals-against-average at 10.45.  He also had 11 ground balls and a caused turnover.

O'Connor, an attacker, finished second on the Buccaneers in scoring with 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points.  His 21 assists were seventh in the MLC.  He also picked up 13 ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Oie, a midfielder, was third on the team in scoring with 25 points on 10 goals and 15 assists.  He had 16 ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Carner, a midfielder, had 12 goals and five assists for 17 points on the season.  He ranked 10th in the Conference with 60 ground balls, had five caused turnovers and led the team, and ranked seventh in the MLC, with 84 faceoff wins.

Beloit finished 5-8 overall, 3-3 in the MLC, and advanced to the Conference Tournament in their first season in the league.
