Aurora, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Lacrosse team saw their 2015 season come to an end with a 24-5 loss at Aurora University Wednesday in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference semifinals.
Aurora, the #1 seed and two-time defending Tournament Champions, took complete control over the #4 seed Buccaneers in the second half.
Aurora scored the first goal eight seconds into the game before Matt Kelly tied it up at the 10:54 mark. The Spartans then ran off five unanswered goals to close the opening quarter with a 6-1 lead.
In the second quarter AU ran their string of goals to nine straight for a 10-1 lead with 4:50 left in the half but Beloit closed it back to striking distance at 10-3 with goals by Zach Carner and Aidan Whinnery in the final 3:34.
That feeling of being close disappeared for Beloit in the third period when the Spartans outscored the Bucs 8-0 to move up 18-3 entering the fourth.
Aurora added six more goals in the fourth quarter. Beloit got a power play goal from Mike Spencer (Liam O'Connor) early in the period and their final score from O'Connor at the 6:13 mark. AU closed out the scoring with three goals in the final 4:05.
Jake Wallace picked up five ground balls. John Murphy made 10 saves in net and Trevor Kenahan made two.
