Beloit, Wis. – After a 3-game road trip, The Men’s Basketball Team returned home to Flood Arena and held court against the Blue Boys of Illinois College, winning 88-64 behind an impressive effort from beyond the arc.
Senior Cody Risseeuw (’18 Clinton, Wis.) got things started for the Bucs offensively, hitting one of his four 3-pointers on the night to take an early 3-2 lead. Risseeuw, who leads the Bucs with 35 made 3-pointers on the season, finished with 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds.
Illinois College tied the game at 27 with 6:58 remaining in the 1st half, but #5 Tristan Shoup (Fort Atkinson, Wis.) responded with an emphatic breakaway dunk off of a steal to regain the lead (29-27) for good. The Bucs led by as much as 30 points until the final advantage of 24 points. Shoup led the team in scoring and rebounding with 20 points and 15 rebounds on 9-14 (64%) shooting.
Darin Empereur (’20 Janesville, Wis.) joined Risseeuw and Shoup as the 3rd Buc scoring in double figures with 13 points as well as 6 rebounds.
As a team, the Bucs shot 57% (36-63) from the field and nearly 40% (13-33) from beyond the arc.
The Bucs (2-11, 1-5) will be back in action on Friday, January 12th when they take on the Prairie Fire of Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.
