Austin, TX - The Bucs came out firing from the 3-point line in the first half of their second game down in Austin, Texas, but the early offensive output wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Lobos of Sul Ross State, as they eventually lost by a score of 61-78.
#21 Cody Risseeuw (’18 Clinton, Wis.) led the offense in the first half, hitting 3 shots from beyond the arc in a row to keep the contest close early on. The Senior finished the game with a team high 15 points. As a team, the Bucs finished the first half shooting over 58% (7-12) from deep.
After a scoring run from the Lobos to start the second half, the Bucs responded with a 10-2 run of their own. A nifty layup from #13 Nathaniel Shead (Plano, Ill.) cut the lead to single digits (55-63) with 6:44 left to play, but this was as close as they would get for the rest of the game.
Shead and #3 Darin Empereur (’18 Janesville, Wis.) joined Risseeuw in double figures for the Bucs, as they chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bucs (1-10) conclude their slate of games in 2017 and are off until the new year. They will return to action January 3rd at 5:30pm, as they begin the second half of their schedule against St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.
