In front of a rowdy crowd at Flood Arena, the Beloit College Men’s Basketball team came up short against the Pioneers from Grinnell College, falling by a score of 102-84.
The score was tight throughout the first frame as the teams went back and forth trading baskets, with 5 ties and 9 lead changes in the first half. Unfortunately, the Bucs couldn’t overcome the 32 turnovers generated by the Pioneers as the game progressed.
In the losing effort, #5 Tristan Shoup (’20 Fort Atkison, Wis.) powered his way through the Pioneer press, posting career highs in both points (32) and rebounds (18). Maybe even more impressive was Shoup’s efficiency, as he shot an incredible 73% (16-22) from the field.
The Bucs (1-4, 0-2) will look to rebound quickly, as they take on Monmouth College (4-2, 1-0) tomorrow afternoon at 1pm. Tomorrow’s game will be the second in a two-game home stand to start December.
