Bucs Drop Tight Contest With Regents To Open Season

Rockford, IL -- In a game that featured 7 different lead changes and 3 different ties in score, the Bucs dropped their first game of the 2017 season, narrowly losing to Rockford University, 56-60.

While the entire match was tightly contested, Rockford's largest lead was only 4 points, in the 1st half. Beloit would finish the 1st ahead 29-26, but be outscored 34-27 in the 2nd - However, the Bucs did grab the largest lead of the game with 13:32 remaining, to lead by 9.

Beloit stayed busy in close, picking up 40 points in the paint compared to 20 from Rockford. The Bucs bench would prove necessary as well, adding an additional 18 points. 

Three Bucs registered 12 points in the game, with Tristan Shoup, Carlton Henning, and Mason Jones making their presence felt early and often. Shoup would finish 6-16 from the floor, with 10 crucial rebounds, and 6 assists. Henning, a senior, finished 5-10 shooting, hitting one 3-pt., 1-2 from the free-throw line, and 5 total rebounds in 40 minutes of action. 

Jones, a sophomore, finished 5-12, and 2-4 from the charity stripe. Jones would also be present on the boards, rounding up 10 total rebounds. 

The Bucs get their first chance to defend their home court this season, coming back to Flood Arena to open up the 2017-2018 homestand against the Macalester College Scots. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM, this Saturday, November 18th.
