Buccaneers Can't Overcome Hot-Shooting Lawrence in MWC Loss

February 4, 2017

Appleton, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team couldn't overcome a sizzling Lawrence University squad Saturday on the way to a 101-67 Midwest Conference loss.

The Vikings, who shot 66.7% in the opening 20 minutes, raced out to a 21-6 lead over the first eight minutes and never saw their lead drop below double digits the rest of the way.  After a jumper by Andrew Bremner gave the Bucs a 5-4 lead three minutes into the game, Lawrence went on a 30-9 run to open a 34-14 advantage with 7:52 left.  Beloit got back within 41-27 three minutes before halftime but LU closed the half on a 14-7 run to lead 53-32 at the break.

Lawrence continued their hot shooting in the second half, hitting 65.6% from the field, and pushed their lead to 72-42 at the 12:42 mark.  They reached their largest lead with two minutes remaining at 96-60.

LU finished at 66.1% (41-62) for the game while the Buccaneers shot 44.3% (27-61).  Lawrence also hit 13 three-pointers to the Bucs' five.

Sam Noyce scored a career-best 16 points while Tristan Shoup had 12.  Mike Gulve added nine and Cody Risseeuw eight.

Beloit looks to get back on track Wednesday night in Flood Arena when they host Illinois College.  Tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
