Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team couldn't muster enough plays down the stretch and fell to Lake Forest College 59-50 in Flood Arena on Tuesday night.
Playing another close game in a season full of them, the opening half was close for the first 15 minutes, with six ties and four lead changes. But the Foresters put together an 8-0 run in the last four minutes to lead 37-29 at the break.
Both teams shot very well in the first 20 minutes, with Beloit hitting 60% (12-20) of their shots, including 5-7 from three-point, and LFC shooting 59.3% (16-27) with four three's.
After Lake Forest scored the first basket of the second half to go up by 10 the Buccaneers got back within 43-36 four-plus minutes in. Five straight points by the Foresters upped their lead to 48-36 midway through the period but an extended 13-4 run by Beloit pulled them back within 52-49 at the 3:29 mark. But that was as close as they could get, despite several opportunities, as LFC scored seven of the game's last eight points to secure the win.
The second-half shooting didn't match the first, as both teams hit just 30.8% of their shots (both 8-26). Lake Forest finished at 45.3% for the game while the Bucs ended at 43.5%. Beloit hit nine three-pointers but shot just four free throws, making one.
Cody Risseeuw had 13 points, including three three-pointers, to lead the way while Carlton Henning had 10 points, with two big second-half three's. Andrew Bremner had eight rebounds to go with his seven points while Mike Gulve tied his career-best with five assists.
Beloit looks to rebound as they hit the road Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. game at Lawrence University.
