Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team fell just short again Saturday, falling to Lawrence University 62-58 in Flood Arena, their fourth loss this season of four points or fewer.
The first half was close for the first 11 minutes until Lawrence put together an 18-9 run to build a 35-27 lead with three minutes left. LU led 37-31 at the break.
Beloit got back within 40-38 with a 7-3 run out of halftime but Lawrence got the lead back up to seven points. The Vikings still led 54-50 with 4:39 remaining before both teams wsent on a three-minute scoring drought. A three-pointer by Cody Risseeuw got the Bucs within 56-55 with 30 seconds left but six free throws by LU allowed them to hold on for the narrow win.
The Buccaneers finished at 42% shooting for the game (21-50) while Lawrence shot 40.7% (22-54). Free throws played a large part in the results with LU making 10-12 while Beloit was just 10-20.
Carlton Henning had a double-double with a career-best 15 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Gulve added 14 points, including three three-pointers.
Beloit heads back on the road Wednesday when they travel to Midwest Conference-leader Ripon College. Action is set for 7:30 p.m.
