Mt. Vernon, IA -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team came out of the halftime lockerroom cold, leading to an 81-47 Midwest Conference loss at Cornell College Wednesday night.
The first 20 minutes were close most of the way, with three ties and two lead changes, until the Rams scored the final five points of the half to lead 37-28 at the break.
But any thought of a comeback by the Buccaneers were dashed early in the second half. Trailing 39-30 just over two minutes in Cornell took off on a 42-17 run to close out the game, with the largest lead being the final score. Beloit shot just 18.2% (6-33) in the second half, 1-13 from three-point range, while CC shot 53.3% (16-30) and hitting five three-pointers.
The Bucs finished at 29.3% for the game (17-58). Cornell finished with 49.2% shooting (31-63).
Tristan Shoup led the Buccaneers with 11 points while Andrew Bremner and Sam Noyce both added 10. Bremner and Cody Risseeuw shared the game-high with seven rebounds and Matthew Miller had three assists.
Beloit looks to turn things around on the home court Saturday when they host Lawrence University in Flood Arena. Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
