Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team went ice cold at the wrong time Wednesday night, leading to a big second half run by 12th-ranked and Midwest Conference tri-leader St. Norbert College on the way to a 72-51 loss in Flood Arena.
The game was physical and closely-contested through the opening 20 minutes, which featured three ties and two lead changes, and went to the lockerroom with the Green Knights holding a 33-27 lead.
SNC pushed their advantage into double figures early in the second half but the Buccaneers were still within 40-31 at the 16:25 mark. St. Norbert then took off on an extended 28-6 run that topped out with six minutes remaining and the Green Knights leading 68-37. During the run the Bucs made just two field goals and two free throws. The final margin was as close as Beloit could get in the remaining time as both teams emptied their benches.
The Buccaneers shot 34.1% (15-44) from the field, including just 26.9% (7-26) during the second half. St. Norbert shot just 42.2% (27-64) for the game but had just 10 turnovers to the Bucs' 20.
Cody Risseeuw led Beloit with 13 points while Mason Jones had 10, just two in the second half. Tristan Shoup added eight with a team-high six rebounds.
Beloit looks to end their eight-game slide as they hit the road this weekend, playing at Illinois College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
