Whitewater, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team stayed close at UW-Whitewater on Tuesday night before a late Warhawk run decided the game in an 82-70 non-conference loss.
UWW jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first 2:40 of the game before the Buccaneers got their bearings and started cutting into the deficit. The Warhawks scored five of the final seven points in the half to lead 36-30 into the lockerroom.
The same story kept repeating in the second half, with UW-Whitewater moving up by 10 and Beloit fighting to keep the deficit in single digits. The Bucs were still within 66-62 with 3:43 left before UWW finally started to spread the score, much of it from the free throw line where they made 10 free throws in the final three minutes.
The Buccaneers shot 47.1% (32-68) for the game and were just 3-5 on free throws. Whitewater finished at 50% (30-60) from the field and 16-23 from the chaity stripe, including 13-17 in the second half.
