Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had a strong second half and a quartet of players in double figures on the way to a 74-59 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in Flood Arena Saturday in the 2016-17 home opener.
Both teams had eight-point leads in the opening half, with MSOE hitting their high-point with 6:19 left in the half. The Bucs used a five-minute 13-6 run to pull back within 30-29 with 1:27 left before the Raiders settled for a 32-29 halftime advantage.
The game stayed close through the first five minutes of the second half before the Buccaneers went on a 22-10 run that gave them a 60-48 lead with 7:22 left. MSOE got no closer than eight points the rest of the way, with Beloit's biggest lead coming with 1:05 remaining at 70-53.
The Bucs finished with 45.5% (25-55) shooting for the game, including a hot 57.1% (16-28) in the second 20 minutes. MSOE finished at 37.1% (23-62) for the game, just 25% (6-24) from three-point.
Andrew Bremner paced Beloit with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Tristan Shoup had 15 points and both Mike Gulve and Cody Risseeuw 14 points apiece.
The Buccaneers open Midwest Conference play at Lake Forest College on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
