Buccaneer Men's Basketball Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

July 27, 2016

Kansas City, MO -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team, under head coach Brian Vraney, has been recognized with the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2015-16 season.  The honor was announced Wednesday.

Created by the NABC Committee on Academics, this is the fourth season for the award. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2015-16 season.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II, must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the past season.

The Bucs finished the 2015-16 season 11-12 overall, 9-9 in the MWC.  The 11 overall wins mark the third time in head coach Brian Vraney’s tenure the team achieved double-figure victories while the nine MWC wins are the most since the 2012-13 season.
