January 7, 2016

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting Lake Forest College squad Wednesday night in Flood Arena on the way to an 86-72 Midwest Conference loss.

The Foresters used a 15-4 run midway through the first half to build a 30-19 lead.  But the Buccaneers responded with a 13-1 four-minute run to regain the lead before LFC scored the final four points of the half to take a 35-32 advantage into the lockerroom.

The game stayed close in the second half before Lake Forest broke away with a 22-4 run to grab a 68-48 lead with 6:36 remaining.  An 11-2 Beloit run got the deficit down to 72-61 with 2:31 left but that was as close as they could get as the Foresters made 9-10 free throws in the final two-plus minutes.

Lake Forest shot 61.2% (30-49) for the game, including 64% (16-25) in the deciding second half while making 15-16 free throws in the final 20 minutes.  Beloit shot 47.4 (27-57) for the game, including 12-27 three-pointers, tied for the second-most in a game in Buccaneer history.

Steve McAfee led the way with 22 points, 13 in the second half, moving into the #5 spot on the all-time scoring list.  Rudy Bentley added 17 points with seven assists and a team-high seven rebounds.

Beloit looks to rebound on Saturday afternoon at Knox College.  Tip is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
