Grinnell, IA -- Steve McAfee, a 6'5 senior wing for the Beloit College Men's Basketball team from Chicago, Illinois (Urban Prep Academy-Englewood) has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week for the week ending November 29. The Conference office announced the recognition on Monday.
In two games last week McAfee averaged 29.5 ppg and 15.0 rpg while shooting 21-of-37 from the field and 15-of-23 from the free throw line. He had 24 points and seven rebounds in a 71-66 loss to Carroll University on Tuesday and 35 points and 23 rebounds in a 118-115 win at Grinnell College Saturday. The 23 rebounds tied for the second-most in a game in Beloit history. For the season he is averaging 25.5 ppg with 12.0 rebounds.
The Buccaneers, 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the MWC, host Lawrence University on Wednesday night at Flood Arena. Tipoff is at 5:00 p.m.
