Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Basketball team had no answers on Wednesday night in Flood Arena while falling to Lake Forest College 72-47.
The first seven minutes were close as the teams traded baskets. But the Foresters broke away from a 9-9 tie with a 31-10 run through the end of the half to head to the lockerroom with a 40-19 lead.
Little did Beloit know that that deficit would be as close as they'd get the final 20 minutes. LFC had small runs throughout the second half, with the Bucs pulling to within 21 and Lake Forest pushing their lead back up to the mid to upper 20s. The biggest lead of the game came with 6:36 left at 66-36.
The Buccaneers shot just 26.4% for the game (14-53) while hitting just three of 19 three-pointers and committing 23 turnovers. They did win the rebounding battle 41-33 with Steve McAfee grabbing a game-high nine.
Mike Kirkpatrick came off the bench late with a career-high nine points, including 7-7 from the free throw line. Jacob Manthe added eight points while Andrew Bremner had six.
Beloit looks to turn their fortunes around quickly as the season heads toward the stretch run when they travel to Grinnell College on Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. game.
