Grinnell, IA -- After a trying season of ups and downs, the Bucs found their will and grit, shutting out the Pioneers of Grinnell College this afternoon, winning 35-0.
Not only was this Beloit's first shutout of the year, but also the Bucs first shutout victory since 2008, a 38-0 win over Knox College.
This win also closes out the careers of senior TE's Jassen Jaime and Ryan Sughroue - both who leave the program after putting their mark on the blue and gold.
Beloit would start out strong and not look back, scoring 14 points to open the game, while keeping Grinnell off the board in the first half to go into the lockers up by 2 TD's.
Tyler Korous would start the scoring off for the Bucs, catching a 10 yd pass from Ben Sposito after a 12 play, 65 yd march down the field.
Punctuating the scoring in the first half was senior TE Ryan Sughroue, making a score off a quick 6 yd pass from Sposito with 6 minutes on the clock in the 1st period.
Coming out of the half, RB Joey Werner would make his presence known, putting two scores on the board, 7 minutes apart from each other - a 3 yd scamper to the end zone first, then a 15 yd catch from Sposito.
In the 4th, only one more TD would be allowed, as Sughroue grabbed his 2nd of the afternoon, hauling in a 5 yd pass to finish the night.
Defensively, the Bucs would cause two fumbles, and snag two INT's, holding the Grinnell offense to 239 total yards in the game.
Kaylon Williams and Tyler Moore came away with the Buc's INT's, Jackson Modaff and Michael Bradley sacked the Pioneers QB for losses, and Andrei Prikhodko led the Bucs in tackles, finishing with 3 solo and 10 assisted tackles.
