Bucs Stay Close With Blueboys For 3 Quarters

October 1, 2017

Beloit, WI -- The Buccaneers stayed close with the visiting Blueboys of Illinois College for 3 quarters, entering the 4th with the score 28-21.

However, Illinois College engineered a 33 point 4th quarter, and held the Bucs to just 8, bringing the final score to Illinois College 61, Beloit 29.

The game was also Beloit's "Play For The Cure" match, as the Bucs raised money for the fight against breast cancer.

Beloit also honored their three seniors; Student-Assistant Coach Evan Sepulvada, Tight-End Jassen Jamie, and Tight-End Ryan Sughroue.

The first score of the game for Beloit came off a 19 yard run by QB Ben Sposito, who seemingly had his hand in everything Beloit did. Sposito finished the night 13-33 in the air as well, throwing 2 TD's.

Freshman wide receiver Jamiel Garcia has been a real offensive treat for the Bucs this year, and it was more of the same against the Blueboys. Garcia finished the game with 104 yards in the air from Sophomore QB Ben Sposito, also grabbing both TD passes as well. Garcia's 2nd TD of the night was off of a 50 yard catch and run from Sposito late in the 3rd quarter.

Junior RB Tyree Smith finished the night leading all rushers on the field, finishing with 106 yds on the ground.

In the 4th quarter, it was all Illinois College, as the Blueboys tore off 33 points, to Beloit's 8. The lone score in the 4th for the Bucs would be the last of the night, with Joey Werner finding the endzone on an 18 yd run.

The Bucs fall to 0-4 on the season, and will use this week to prepare for the weekend. Beloit will hit the road this coming weekend, traveling to MN to play Macalester College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
