Grinnell, IA -- The Beloit College Football team made a clean sweep of the Midwest Conference Football Player of the Week honors for the week ending September 20. The recognition comes from last Saturday's 49-34 Homecoming Game win over Lawrence University at Strong Stadium.
Mike Nolden, a senior wide receiver from Belleville, Wisconsin, earned Offensive recognition; Quin Dixon, a freshman defensive lineman from Walworth, Wisconsin (Big Foot) was the defensive honoree; and Kam Sallee, a junior wide receiver/kicker from Huntley, Illinois, was the Special Teams selection.
Nolden had seven catches for 134 yards and a Beloit record-tying three touchdowns. All of his TDs came in the first half, two in the second quarter. He became the fifth Buccaneer receiver to grab three scores, the first since Julian Ross did it against Lawrence in 2009.
Dixon had two tackles, plus a sack, while also forcing and recovering a fumble, one of two fumble recoveries for the Bucs on the day.
Sallee was 7-7 on extra points while also recording four touchbacks on eight kickoffs. He also punted five times, placing two inside the 20, caught three passes for 35 yards and rushed four times for 10 yards.
The Buccaneers, who have won two straight, take their 2-1 overall record to Lake Forest College on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against the Foresters.
