Beloit, WI -- Mason Dixon, a junior running back from Walworth, Wisconsin (Big Foot), for the Beloit College Football team, has been named to the d3Football.com Team of the Week for the week ending September 13. The website, which is devoted to NCAA Division III Football, announced the recognition on Tuesday morning.
It's the second straight week the Buccaneers have had a player on the Team of the Week, following Kam Sallee's recognition after the season-opener.
In a 41-31 win at Grinnell College last Saturday, Dixon rushed for 210 yards, the third 200-yard game of his career and the second straight time he's surpassed 200 yards at Grinnell, on 31 carries with four touchdowns. He had 219 as a freshman at GC in 2013. The 200-yard game was the third of his career, equaling the record he now shares with Brian Balick and his father Steve. It was the 16th 200-yard rushing game in BC Football history. His four rushing TDs marked the seventh time it's been accomplished, the first time since Lee Rankinen at Grinnell on November 12, 2005.
The Buccaneers host Lawrence University on Saturday for the Homecoming Game at Strong Stadium. It will be the Midwest Conference North Division opener and the 100th meeting between the programs. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
