The Beloit College men’s lacrosse team fell to Illinois Wesleyan on the road 24-8 Thursday night.
Mark Gannon led the Bucs offensively with three goals and three helpers in the game. Kevin Joswiak added two goals and an assist while Matt Lee had one of each.
The Buccaneers took a quick 2-0 lead in the game with Gannon finding the back of the net off an assist from Lee. Gannon registered the helper less than a minute later on Joswiak’s first goal of the game at the 12:14 mark. Joswiak struck again with 4:28 remaining in the first. Gannon tallied the assist on the score.
After the break, Gannon took a pass from Nick Meisberger to the back of the net with 9:48 on the clock in the third. Lee and Michael Spencer tallied the final two goals of the quarter at the 4:03 and 1:39 marks respectively.
Michael Boyland capitalized on a man-up opportunity with 11:35 left in the game and Gannon wrapped up the scoring for the Bucs with 1:50 on the clock off another Meisberger helper.
John Murphy pulled to within six of the career saves record at Beloit College. Murphy’s 14 in the game Thursday night bring his four-year total to 393, just six shy of the career mark held by Trevor Kenahan.
The Bucs are slated to host Concordia University-Chicago Saturday at 4:30 for Senior Day. Beloit’s final regular season home game is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Marian University
