Beloit, WI -- The Bucs opened their 2017-2018 Home Slate with fashion, dispensing the visiting Macalester College Scots this afternoon by a score of 90-68.
For the Bucs, Sophomore guard Darin Empereur was busy all over the court. Empereur led both teams in scoring with 17, going 6-13 from the paint and 4-8 from distance. Empereur also chipped in a charity point from the FT line.
Right behind Empereur were two Bucs with 15; Senior Cody Risseuw and Sophomore Tristan Shoup - both finishing the game with 15 points.
Risseuw, easily the biggest Buc on the court, made his presence felt on both sides; finishing with 2 steals, a block, and easily a handful more breakups made possible by his physical presence. Offensively, Risseuw went 5-9 from the paint, adding an additional 5 3-PT'ers. Risseuw also the led team in boards with 10 total.
Shoup finished 7-12 shooting field goals, and hit his sole 3-PT attempt. Right behind Risseuw, Shoup picked up 9 boards of his own.
Freshman Nate Shead, from Plano, Ill. gained confidence quickly, and found his way to the hoop multiple times in the afternoon. Shead hit one 3-PT, and made 5-6 from inside, and one assist, for 11 points on the day.
The Bucs continue their defense of Flood Arena, as they welcome the Lake Forest Foresters to Beloit next Tuesday. A double header on tap, as both women and men play at 5:30 and 7:30.
