The Buccaneer men’s soccer team fell to Illinois Tech 1-0 in an exciting game at the Strong Complex in Beloit Friday evening.
The lone score in the game would come as the halftime horn neared. The Scarlet Hawks were pressing forward when a clear attempt ricocheted off of IIT’s Oluwaseun Ogunsany chest and fell directly in front giving him a one-on-one with the Buccaneer keeper. His ground strike found the back of the net just inside the far post for a 1-0 IIT advantage in the 42nd minute.
Beloit posted five shots in the second period including one on goal but were unable to tally the equalizer.
Alex Lyon recorded 10 saves in net giving up the single goal to take the loss.
The Bucs fall to 0-4 on the season while IIT improves to 2-1.
Beloit will look to recoup with a few days off before returning to the pitch September 11 with a home game against Edgewood College. Game time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
