Balanced Scoring Helps Bucs Knock off Knox College on Senior Day

Beloit, WI – Coming off back to back in-conference wins, the Men’s Basketball Team continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon at Flood Arena on Senior Day, defeating the Knox College Prairie Fire by a final score of 71-54.  Beloit shot 42% from the field (26-62) from the field and dominated the boards outrebounding the Prairie Fire 48-24.

Four Buccaneers scored in double digits to give Beloit a balanced scoring attack.  The Bucs were led by sophomore Tristan Shoup and freshman Andrew Walters who each had a double-double.  Shoup dropped in 20 points and pulled done 14 rebounds, Walters chipped in 16 points and grabbed 11 boards.  Also in double figures for the Bucs were senior Cody Risseeuw with 16 points and freshman Nathan Shead who recorded 10 points.

Before the game the Buccaneers recognized their lone senior on this year’s team, Cody Risseeuw.  Risseeuw has left his mark on Beloit College Men’s Basketball in just two seasons.  To this point in his career as a Buc, he has scored 591 points, collected over 200 rebounds, dished out over 100 assists and knocked down 100 - 3’s.  He led the Bucs in scoring 17 times in his career including a career high of 28 points and led them in rebounding in 7 games including a career high of 13 rebounds.  He has started every game in his career as a Buc and has averaged 33 minutes of play per game.  He was a recipient of the 2016-17 Coaches Award and named a Captain for the 2017-18 season.

The Bucs (5-18, 4-12) will look to continue their late season success when they travel to Mt. Vernon, Iowa on Tuesday to take on the Cornell College Rams.  Action begins at 5:30pm.
