February 4, 2018

Beloit, Wis. – The Women’s Basketball Team squared off with the Vikings of Lawrence University in the second game of a doubleheader at Flood Arena Saturday afternoon, but after a strong second quarter form the visitors, the Bucs simply couldn’t find their way back into the game, eventually falling by a final score of 60-71.

Junior Shelby Kline (’19 Rockton, Ill.) got things started for the Bucs when she hit a 3-pointer at the 8:43 mark of the 1st quarter, and the Bucs went on to lead for the entire quarter before a Vikings layup with 28 seconds remaining tied the game up at 14 heading into the 2nd.

Lawrence responded in the 2nd with a 12-4 run over a 7-minute span to take a 10-point lead (20-30), forcing 5 turnovers in the quarter. The Vikings would go on to extend their lead to as high as 16 early in the 3rd quarter (25-41).

The Bucs would get as close as 7 points down (54-61) off of a pair of free throws from #22 Melissa McLean (’18 Woodridge, Ill.) with 1:17 left to play in the game before eventually falling by a final margin of 11 points.

Beloit (3-17, 1-12) travels to Jacksonville, Illinois on Wednesday to take on the Lady Blues of Illinois College. Tip-off is at 7:30pm.
