Galesburg, IL. - In the second game of a double header in Galesburg, Illinois, the Women’s Basketball Team battled early but couldn’t break the zone defense of Knox College in a 46-70 loss.
A jumper from #11 Shelby Kline (’19 Rockton, Ill.) gave the Bucs a 5-point lead early on, and the Bucs kept it close (15-18) to close the 1st quarter; however, a strong 2nd from the Prairie Fire stretched their lead to 15 (35-20) heading into the locker room.
The Prairie Fire continued their run into the 2nd half, but the Bucs finished the game strong by outscoring their opponent 19-10 in the final frame.
Kline finished the game with 15 points and was joined in double-figures by #22 Melissa McLean (’18 Woodridge, Ill.), who also scored 15.
The Bucs (3-10, 1-5) have a quick turnaround, as they take on the Pioneers of Grinnell College tomorrow at 3:00pm.
