Austin, TX - After a short break to celebrate the holidays, the Men’s Basketball Team traveled down to Austin, Texas for a pair of non-conference games at Concordia University of Texas. In their first day of action, the Bucs fell to the talented Tornados of Concordia 79-112, despite a career day from Tristan Shoup (’20 Fort Atkinson, Wis.).
Aggressive defense from the Tornados slowed the Bucs to start the game, but that didn’t stop Shoup from dominating on the offensive end. The Sophomore scored 17 of his career high 32 points in the first frame on 64% (7-11) shooting.
Unfortunately, the Tornados defense continued to be an issue in the second half, forcing 26 turnovers in total. Despite struggling to break through an impressive defensive effort, the Bucs were successful with the offensive opportunities they had in the second half, converting over 50% (12-22) of their shots from the field.
Joining Shoup in double figures was fellow Sophomore Darin Empereur (’20 Janesville, Wis.) with 13. The guard also chipped in 3 rebounds and 3 steals as well.
The Bucs (1-9) are slated to take on the Lobos of Sul Ross State (8-4) in the second day of action in Austin.
