December 14, 2017

River Forest, Ill. – The Women’s Basketball Team held a 2-point lead at the half of a very competitive game, but couldn’t hold on, as they fell to the Stars of Dominican University, 48-54.

Both teams battled all night in the tight contest that saw 8 ties and 6 lead changes. The Bucs started slow offensively, but came back strong to take a 1-point lead into the second quarter after the Stars scored the first 8 points of the game. In addition, The Bucs controlled the boards all night, outrebounding the Stars 45-35; however, it wasn’t enough to overcome their 28 turnovers.

Junior Shelby Kline (’19 Rockton, Ill.) carried the Bucs offensively in the first half, scoring 13 of 19 total points in the first 20 minutes. Melissa McLean (’18 Woodridge, Ill.) and Candace Cunningham (’19 Cary, Ill.) joined Kline in double figures, adding 13 and 10 points, respectively. Cunningham notched 10 rebounds as well to give her a double-double for the game.

The Bucs (2-8, 1-3) are off until after Christmas, when they return to Flood Arena to play Manchester University (2-5, 1-2) on Saturday, December 30th.
