Beloit, Wis. - In their second game in as many days, the Bucs fought valiantly on short rest before succumbing to a strong offensive effort by Monmouth, falling by a final score of 78-56.
Things got started early with #05 Tristan Shoup (’20 Fort Atkison, Wis.) scoring the first 6 points for the home team before the game settled down into a defensive struggle for most of the first half.
The Fighting Scots went into the break with a 15-point lead, but the Bucs wouldn’t go away, as #21 Cody Risseeuw (’20 Clinton, Wis.) hit a corner three to force a Monmouth timeout early in the 2nd half. A smooth layup by #55 Carlton Henning (’18 Marshall, Wis.) cut the lead to 32-40, but that was as close as the Bucs would get, as the Fighting Scots’ offense pulled away to close out the game.
The men’s team (1-5, 0-3) will have a chance to rest before returning to action Wednesday at 7pm to take on the Ripon Redhawks (2-3, 0-2) at Weiske Gymnasium.
