The Beloit men's basketball team dropped a non-conference road game on Tuesday night at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, MO against Div. II Lindenwood University. The Lions defeated Beloit by an 83-58 score.
The Lions led by double-digit points for the final 36:22 of the ballgame after opening the contest by scoring 14 of the first 16 points. Lindenwood would lead 43-21 at halftime, and it built a 25-point advantage on two occasions late in the game.
Lindenwood won the game with a strong defense, especially in the first 20 minutes. The Lions held the Buccaneers to just 36 percent shooting in the first half, and they forced 14 turnovers. For the game, Beloit shot 45.5 percent from the field, but just 10.5 percent from three-point range.
Offensively, Beloit was led by Tristan Shoup with 16 points, Mason Jones with 9, and Cody Risseeuw dropped in 7. The Bucs held a slight edge in rebounds (31-30) and were led by Shoup who had nine boards.
Beloit drops to 1-3 on the season. The Buccaneers will be home again on Friday night when they host Grinnell College at 5:30pm.
