Beloit, WI -- The Bucs took the lead early, on an in close shot from Tegan Rock, assisted by Raine Loewen-Thomas, at the 12th minute, and never looked back. Beloit beat Marian University 3-1 today at Strong Stadium, and led the entire game.
The Sabres would actually out shoot the Bucs at Strong 19-12, however the Bucs offensive looks, coupled with the brick-wall in net Connor Keegan-Lloyd registering 10 saves, the 12 shots, and 7 on frame would count.
Freshman goalie Connor Keegan-Lloyd has became a stalwart goalkeeper for the Bucs, and has consistently turned away what should have been "for sure goals" all season long, and today was nothing different. Keegan-Lloyd stood on her head once again at home, coming off of the Bucs first shutout of the season against Edgewood last Wednesday, and turned away almost perfect looks from the Sabres offense.
This would be Keegan-Lloyd's 4th game with at least 10 saves, and almost had a back-to-back shut-out in the books, if not for the Sabres Reilly Louko putting a PK past Keegan-Lloyd in the 64th minute to bring the score to 3-1.
Junior Forward Genesis Dade, always the offensive threat for the Bucs, put 2 goals in against the Sabres, with one being assisted by Courtney Ceurvorst. Her 2 goals would come in a quick flurry, with Dade scoring in the 55th and 59th minute.
On defense, the Buccaneers would lock down the Sabres offense effectively, riding out multiple good looks and forcing multiple corners, of which the defenders in front of the net were able to effectively neutralize. Candace Cunningham was a force to be reckoned with in between the lines, one handedly ending multiple runs and looks by Marian's offense, while also being felt in the clearing game, pushing the ball up the field the entire game.
The Bucs move to 3-4 on the season, and head to Grinnell College this weekend for an MWC matchup against the Pioneers. Kickoff is set for 11 AM.
