Beloit, WI -- The Bucs dropped their first game on the road of the young season to the Prairie Fire of Knox College by a score of 35-17.
The first half was all Prairie Fire, as Knox kept Beloit off of the scoreboard until middle of the third quarter. Also in the first half, Knox forced Beloit into a fumble and an interception off of an errant pass from sophomore quarterback Ben Sposito.
It wasn't until the 15 minute mark in the third quarter that Beloit got on the scoreboard, off the foot of junior kicker Andy Berlin.
Beloit's two other drives in the third led to two three and outs and punts from Berlin.
The Buccaneers finally found the endzone in the fourth quarter, as freshman wide receiver hauled in an 18 yard pass from Sposito at the 12 minute mark.
Quarterback Ben Sposito finished 15-25-1 with 195 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. Senior Tight End Ryan Sughroue led the Bucs in all-purpose yards with 90, off of three catches from Sposito.
Even though Knox would add one more as an insurance score off of a 6 yard run from Matt McCaffrey, Beloit would not give up, and answered with 4 minutes on the clock, as junior runningback Tyree Smith found the endzone on the end of a 2 yard run.
The Buccaneers drop to 0-2, while the Prairie Fire moves to 2-0. Beloit will hit the road again this weekend, traveling to Cornell College next saturday, September 23rd. Kickoff is set for 2 PM.
