Waukesha, WI -- Marie Bonine, a sophomore goalkeeper for the Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team from Stillwater, Minnesota, headlines five Buccaneers named to the All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Team for 2015. The team was released on Wednesday morning.
Also earning recognition on the First Team were Michelle Dillon, a junior attacker from Chicago (Mother McAuley); Libby Storrick, a junior midfielder from Coon Rapids, Minnesota; and Kelley Flint, a freshman defender from Ashburn, Virginia (Broad Run).
Hannah Drexler, a sophomore attacker from Alexandria, Virginia (T.C. Williams) was named to the Second Team.
Yuri Wada, a freshman defender from San Jose, California (Lynbrook) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Bonine was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. She led the MWLC, and ranks in the top 20 in NCAA Division III, in save percentage at .518. She was second in the Conference in fewest goals allowed (92) and goals-against-average (8.29) and seventh in saves (99).
In addition to her All-MWLC recognition, Bonine was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. A total of 480 athletes earned all-region honors in NCAA Division I, II, and III and these athletes will now be eligible for the 2015 IWLCA All-America Team, which will be announced on June 7.
Dillon was second in the league in both goals with 57 and points with 69 while Storrick, who earned her second All-MWLC honor, was tied for second in assists with 22, fourth in points with 60 and seventh in goals with 38.
Flint tied with Storrick for second in the Conference in assists with 22 and also had 14 goals for 36 points. She led the Bucs in draw controls with 45 and tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with 23.
Drexler finished eighth in the league with 14 assists and tenth in goals with 30 and points with 44.
The Buccaneers finished 9-7 overall, 5-2 in MWLC play and advanced to the MWLC Tournament for the first time.
