Four Buccaneer teams are heading south for the upcoming Spring Break at Beloit College - two to open their seasons and two to continue the early stages of their seasons - for games and training.
Bob Dignazio’s Men’s Lacrosse team, carrying an 0-1 record after falling at Albion College in Michigan in the season opener, begins their trip in Chicago against Elmhurst College on Saturday, September 7, at 1:00 p.m. before heading out for games at Rhodes College in Tennessee on Wednesday, March 11, and at Hendrix College in Arkansas on Saturday, March 14. After returning home they have a week off before playing their home opener on Saturday, March 21, at Strong Stadium against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Dave DeGeorge begins his 25th season as the head coach of Buccaneer Baseball with eight games at the RussMatt Central Florida Invite in and around Winter Haven. The Bucs open their week against fellow northerner Loras College on Saturday, March 7, in Auburndale, at 3:00 p.m. central time. In addition to the eight varsity games the team will also play three junior varsity contests. After the squad gets back home they’re scheduled to play doubleheaders in Milwaukee against Wisconsin Lutheran College and MSOE on Saturday and Sunday, March 21-22, respectively, before opening their home season with two games against Monmouth College at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium on Saturday, March 28, at 1:00 p.m.
Kim Zarling begins her eighth season with the Buccaneer Softball team, and her 20th season as a collegiate head coach, with 10 games at the Rebel Spring Games, also in Winter Haven. Beloit opens against Washington College of Maryland at 8:00 a.m. central time on Sunday, March 8. The Bucs are scheduled to open their northern season on Sunday, March 22, with a doubleheader against Rockford University at the Strong Complex Softball Field at 1:00 p.m.
Maggie Zentgraf begins her first season as head coach of the Buccaneer Women’s Lacrosse squad after serving as an assistant in 2014. The squad is 0-1 to date after losing at Albion College back on February 22. They play Elmhurst College in their rescheduled home opener on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Strong Stadium. After Friday’s game the Bucs play two games in Virginia - at Ferrum College on Sunday, March 8, and at Southern Virginia University on Tuesday, March 10. When they get back to Beloit they have two home matches at Strong the week of March 15, hosting Carthage College on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:00 p.m., and Benedictine University on Sunday, March 22, at 12:00 p.m.
