The Beloit College men’s and women’s cross country teams ran in a competitive invitational hosted by Augsburg Saturday afternoon.
The invitational featured 23 men’s teams, 24 women’s teams and more than 300 runners in each. The men’s race featured including three NCAA Division II squads and eight programs ranked regionally in Division III polls while the women’s side included four NCAA Division II programs and eight squads regionally ranked in Division III.
Senior Dan Arkes led the men’s team to a 17th place finish as the 77th runner to cross the finish line with a time of 29:52.6. Sophomore Yusuke Hatano also finished in the top half of the men’s group with a time of 31:32.0. John Tower Jr. (32:16.6), Philippe Mortelliti (33:00.0), and Noah Sisson (33:11.9) rounded out the top five finishers for Beloit College.
Also taking to the course for the Buccaneers: Mauricio Penn (36:06.3), Alex Villegas (38:10.8), Isaiah Wisdom (40:37.5), Nicodemus Enciso (43:03.5), Jacob Cunningham (44:04.4), and Leeland Crum (48:16.1).
On the women’s side, the Bucs finished 19th of 24 teams led by junior Frances Knaggs’ time of 27:07.9, good for 105th. Noelle Olson, the second Buccaneer to finish, crossed the line in 28:30.9 followed by Sophia Miliotis who stopped the clock in 29:53.7. Fiona Cismesia and Emma Newsham rounded out the top five for the Buc women with times of 30:22.3 and 30:43.6 respectively.
Also running for the Beloit women’s squad: Umang Garg (32:09.8), Margaret Baugh (35:44.3) and Maria Jones (36:29.3).
