Bucs Win Both Ends of Season-Opening Early Bird Meet; Koenig, Torres Take Individual Titles

Roscoe, IL -- The Beloit College Cross Country team got their season off to a good start with team wins by both the Women and Men at the Beloit Early Bird, run at Kielselburg Forest Preserve Thursday.

The Buccaneer Women had 31 points to nip Edgewood College with 32.  Knox College had 73.  For the Men Beloit scored 27, well ahead of Edgewood with 60, Knox with 61 and Rockford with 76.

Emma Koenig won the Women's individual crown followed by teammate Ellie Waddle in second.  Shelby Kline was seventh and Melissa Pelkey eighth.  Emily Sneed completed the scoring in 13th.

Alberto Torres led the way in the Men's individual race followed by teammates Dan Arkes in second and Charlie Sandberg in third.  Forrest Lloyd finished 10th and Jack Klobucar 11th.

Beloit is now off until Saturday, September 17, when they compete at the St. Olaf College Invite in Northfield, Minnesota.
